Derek Hough And His Wife, Hayley, Announce They Are Expecting Their First Child
In a joint Instagram post on Tuesday (July 22), Dancing With The Stars judge Derek Hough and his wife of nearly two years, Hayley, announced they are expecting their first child.
“We can’t believe the biggest thing to happen to us could be so small,” their joint caption read.
Set to the tune of the Alexander Jean song “So Small,” the video featured Derek walking up to Hayley in slow motion and giving her a loving hug. Hayley wrapped her arms around his neck and showed off ultrasound photos, letting the audience know she is pregnant!
Alexander Jean is comprised of Hough’s longtime best friend, Mark Ballas, and his wife, BC Jean.

The Announcement Comes 19 Months After Her Brain Injury
In December 2023, just four months after their wedding, Hayley had emergency surgery after experiencing a burst blood vessel in her brain during a performance.
“At the end of last night’s tour performance in Washington, D.C., my wife Hayley became disoriented and was taken to the hospital,” Derek wrote the following day. “She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy. She is in stable condition.”
She required an emergency craniectomy and a few weeks later, needed a skull implant to “replace the piece [of the skull] that was removed during the craniectomy.”
Miraculously, Hayley had a full recovery and just four months after the skull implant, she was dancing again.

In October 2024, Hayley returned to the Dancing With The Stars stage with her husband for an extremely emotional dance to Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things.”
