After Clarkson’s residency ends, another superstar singer will arrive in Vegas. Dolly Parton recently announced that she will perform a limited residency of six shows at The Colosseum starting on December 4. The other show dates are December 6-7, December 10, and December 12-13.

This marks Parton’s first time performing back-to-back shows in Las Vegas since she sang at The Mirage in the ’90s. She expressed her excitement about her new residency during a conversation with Billboard, saying:

“To say I’m excited would be an understatement. I haven’t worked Vegas in years and I’ve always loved singing there. I’m looking so forward to the shows in The Colosseum at Caesars and I hope you are as well. See you there!”

Kelly Clarkson Asks For Cover Song Recommendations, And Dolly Parton Responds

Since Clarkson and Parton are both performing at The Colosseum, the posters for their residencies were on display outside Caesars Palace. Clarkson posted a picture of their posters next to each other and wrote, “I think this is a sign I should cover a Dolly song at one of my shows…. but which song?”

Clarkson covers other artists’ popular songs during the “Kellyoke” segment of her Emmy-winning talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. She experiments with all genres, including country, sharing covers of songs by artists such as Tracy Lawrence, Dwight Yoakam, and George Strait.

Clarkson has covered Parton’s songs many times. In fact, she introduced The Kelly Clarkson Show with a promotional clip set to Parton’s “9 to 5.” She has since covered “Jolene” on the show and joined Parton for an impromptu performance of “I Will Always Love You” when she was a guest.

Their duet starts around the 7:05 mark in the video below.

Previously, Clarkson covered “I Will Always Love You” during the 2022 ACM Awards. Parton was deeply moved by the performance.

When she visited The Kelly Clarkson Show, Parton said the late Whitney Houston (who recorded the song in 1992) would have loved Clarkson’s version:

“Whitney, she would have been so proud of you, cause I felt like she was watching…you absolutely killed it…seriously it was incredible.”

So when Clarkson asked which of Parton’s songs she should perform during her Vegas residency, she received a quick response from the legendary singer herself.

“Hey Kelly, I think you should sing ‘I Will Always Love You’ because I think you do one of the best versions of that song that I have ever heard… Whitney and I would both be proud….” Parton wrote in the comments.
