Phil & Kay Robertson’s Sons Share “Sad” Update On Their Health
The sons of Duck Dynasty’s Phil and Kay Robertson shared a “sad” update on their health.
In the latest episode of Unshamed, a podcast started by Phil Robertson, his sons, Al and Jase, updated listeners on their parents’ health struggles.
Phil Robertson was diagnosed with a blood disorder and the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease at the end of 2024. During the same year, Phil’s wife, Miss Kay, suffered health issues of her own and spent time hospitalized and in a rehabilitation facility. Her family revealed that an infected cut on her leg that had been caused by a fall nearly took her life.
As a result of Phil and Kay’s health struggles, their family moved them out of their longtime Louisiana home to an assisted living facility where they could receive 24/7 care. They were temporarily separated while Kay recovered, a time that the family said was difficult for both Phil and Kay, who have been married for nearly 60 years.
As their health has continued to deteriorate, the Robertson kids have kept fans informed about their well-being.
In an interview with CBN, Al said that his dad continues to fight and “hang on” despite his deteriorating health and revealed the reason why.
- “He still has a sense of purpose in watching out for Mom. She had a pretty bad year last year, physically had a lot of issues,” Al said. “I think he feels like that’s part of the reason he has to hang in there and hang on. Because he helps take care of her, and she helps take care of him,” Al shared. “To be honest with you, it’s a really sweet thing to watch … my older parents still cling to one another and take care of each other.”
Jase Robertson‘s latest update included sad news about Phil’s health.
- “My dad’s not been doing well, at all – just physically and mentally,” Jase told listeners of his 79-year-old father. “He’s not real mobile, so I was moving him around at his request, and even though he doesn’t weigh what he once did, it’s pretty hard. He can’t help you, and it’s sad.”
Jase recalled a recent visit with his dad where he felt like they shared a special moment during a brief period of lucidity.
- “He’s mostly out of it, but there was a five-minute period … that felt really supernatural because he’s been struggling so much. He just kind of perked up, and we had a little five-minute conversation that ended in him sneezing, which, for some reason, he thought was hilarious, and it became contagious,” Jase shared. “It was the first time in quite a while that I’ve seen him smile and laugh. It was really nice.”
Jase and Al reiterated that their father’s health continues to decline, saying, “He’s just not doing real well. I just think he’s getting ready for the journey to the other side.”
Jase’s brother Willie shared a separate update about their mother’s current health status.
In a new interview with US Weekly, Willie Robertson confirmed Jase’s statements about their father and said that his mom’s health is also declining.
“Dad’s not doing well at all. It’s definitely progressing,” Willie told the outlet. “And mom has shown the same type of symptoms of Alzheimer’s or dementia. It’s just part of life — and mom has her good days.”
Willie added that Miss Kay will be making a guest appearance on the new Duck Dynasty spinoff, Duck Dynasty: The Revival, but that fans shouldn’t expect her to return.
“She’s probably not going to be able to do that in the future,” he says. “She also has more health problems, as well. But we’re there.”
