Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Matching Date Night Fits May Hold a Hidden Meaning
Festive, flirty, back for the grass-fed fillet mignon—it’s date night for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
Now that the Eras tour is well and truly wrapped and the Chiefs have a super-short break before play-offs, that means nights out in New York wearing complementary fits. And with that, there could also be some Swiftian sartorial Easter eggs of which Kelce is an accessory.
Swift and Kelce stepped out for a double date night on Friday (December 27) with friend and producer Jack Antonoff and his wife, The Substance actor Margaret Qualley, in a move that saw fans begin to speculate a little deeper with their outfits once again.
Swift donned favorites like a Stella McCartney blazer and Versace platform boots, along with a Medusa crystal handbag. She’s shown a fondness for Versace’s Medusa collection, wearing it at events like the Chiefs vs. Ravens game. The Medusa symbol, tied to female rage, could hint at a potential Reputation (Taylor’s Version) release, continuing her Easter egg tradition in fashion.
Over the past year, rumors of a new Reputation era have surged, starting with Swift’s green sequined Gucci dress at the 2024 Golden Globes—reminiscent of serpent skin. Outfits featuring green, snakes, and plaid have been seen as nods to Reputation. The snake, central to the album’s narrative, emerged after Kim Kardashian labeled Swift a “snake” during the 2016 Kanye West “Famous” controversy. Swift has since reclaimed the symbol as one of strength, representing her grittiest and darkest album.
At her side, Kelce wore a similarly toned knit cardigan and brown shiny slacks. Swift and Kelce were dressed to dine out with Antonoff and Qualley at BondST Restaurant in NoHo, New York. It’s likely they’ll spend the last few days of the festive break here before Kelce’s next game on January 5.
Yesterday (December 28), Swift and Kelce were also spotted heading into Chez Margaux, a Jean Georges restaurant in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. They kept up the festive color theme—red, black, and white. Swift wore a black, embellished wool Simkhai Gianni coat over a Fleur Du Mal corset mini dress, with Louboutin Movida Sabina platforms. She kept Kelce on one arm and a black, crystal-fringed Falabella tote by Stella McCartney on the other. For jewelry: she wore De Beers drop earrings and a Tiffany diamond and yellow gold wire ring.
Swift wore her hair in loose, relaxed waves and a signature bright red lip. Kelce amped things up with and kept with the evening’s theme in a red Nahmias denim trucker jacket and jean co-ord, a white Saint Michael tee, and Louis Vuitton x Timberland Ranger boots. He also wore a Nahmias trucker hat and burgundy Jacques Marie Mag Alin sunglasses. She’s spent a few evenings at Chez Margaux, most recently with friend Zoë Kravitz. It’s a relatively new members-only club in Meatpacking.
Though the Midnights singer chose to give Kelce’s Christmas day Kansas City Chiefs game a miss, she did turn out for his previous game against the Houston Texans in Kansas City earlier this month, supportively wearing Chiefs colors as she tends to. Swift wore a red Charlotte Simone faux fur-trimmed coat and a fuzzy Chanel bucket hat. With Kelce’s next game on later this week, there’s still time for more date night (and Easter egg-filled) dressing in the big apple.
