After canceling concerts in Austria due to terror threats, Taylor Swift is resuming her tour in London with five shows at Wembley Stadium. The 34-year-old will take the stage tonight for the first time since the cancellations, following her June performances.
Last week, three of Swift’s shows in Vienna were cancelled after Austrian authorities suspected Islamists of planning a terror attack. The 19-year-old main suspect has since denied the allegations, and two other young men remain in custody.
London Mayor Highlights Police Experience
London Mayor Sadiq Khan emphasized that the police are experienced in managing large events ahead of Taylor Swift’s upcoming concerts. He stated that they are working closely with investigators and expressed excitement about welcoming Taylor Swift back. According to the police, there are no indications that the Austrian investigations will affect upcoming events in London. Swift is scheduled to perform five concerts in the coming days.
The concert tonight is set to begin with the stadium doors opening in the afternoon, with the show and opening acts starting around 6 PM (CET). The main concert is scheduled to begin at 8:15 PM (CET), according to ticket platforms.
Last week, Austrian police uncovered plans for a suspected Islamist attack just before a concert in Vienna, leading to the cancellation of three shows. Swift has not yet commented on the threat situation.
Five individuals linked to the observed threats have been identified by Austrian intelligence. They were reportedly assigned to work in the facility and catering areas, according to Interior Minister Gerhard Karner.
“Swifties” Celebrate Musician Despite Concert Cancellation
After the Vienna concert was canceled, fans gathered on the streets, singing Taylor Swift’s songs, exchanging bracelets, and taking selfies. Swift has also been celebrated in London ahead of her return to the city.
The Royal Guard honored Taylor Swift by playing “Shake It Off” during the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, shared on the royal family’s X-account.
Swift (“I Can Do It With A Broken Heart”, “Lavender Haze”) has also performed several concerts in Germany as part of her “Eras Tour”. Her currently scheduled last concert in London is set for Tuesday. After the shows in the British capital, Swift is expected to continue her tour in Canada in November.
