Blake Lively Responds to Terror Threat Targeting Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Austria: ‘Absolutely Terrifying’

Blake Lively is reacting to the recent terror plot against her friend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows in Vienna, Austria.

In a video shared by Access Hollywood on TikTok on Saturday, Aug. 10, Lively, 36, walked the red carpet at the premiere of her new movie It Ends with Us in London on Thursday, Aug. 8, when a reporter asked her how concerned she was with “the Austria concerts.”

“Oh my gosh. I mean, how terrifying,” Lively responded.

“But thank goodness that they are completely on top of that,” she added.

Swift had three Eras Tour shows scheduled from Aug. 8 to Aug. 10 at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna. However, on Aug. 7, authorities confirmed that two men had been arrested in connection to a planned attack on the pop star’s shows.

Terror Plot Forces Cancellation of Taylor Swift’s Austria Shows Amid Suspect Arrests and Safety Concerns

According to officials, the suspects had intended to cause mass casualties using explosives and knives, which subsequently forced the cancellation of Swift’s shows for safety reasons.

At the time, Austrian authorities wrote in German in a statement: “Both suspects had become radicalized on the internet and had taken concrete preparatory actions for a terrorist attack.”

“The main suspect had sworn an oath of allegiance to IS [Islamic State] on the Internet. Chemical substances were seized in his apartment during a house search,” the statement continued.

On the same day, the official Taylor Nation account posted an announcement from Barracuda Music on their Instagram Stories. The announcement stated that all three shows had been canceled to prioritize the safety of concertgoers.

“With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows,” the statement read. “This decision was made for everyone’s safety.”

As well as the primary suspects, a 19-year-old Austrian and a 17-year-old, a 15-year-old was also detained and released, The New York Times reported on Aug. 9. One other suspect, who is believed to be connected to the 19-year-old, was then arrested on Aug. 9.

Swift and Lively’s Decade-Long Friendship: From Music Videos to Family Bonds

Though Swift has not publicly commented on the alleged terror plot, she and Lively have had a close friendship for almost a decade, after first connecting in 2015.
Over the years, Lively and Swift have hung out and attended each other’s birthdays and other special occasions. Lively also directed Swift’s “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)” music video. Most recently, she attended the singer’s Eras Tour shows with her children in Philadelphia in May 2023.

She also supported Swift and her boyfriend Travis Kelce at the 2024 Super Bowl in February.

Swift is also godmother to Lively’s children with Ryan Reynolds. In a shoutout for Reynolds’ new movie Deadpool & Wolverine on her Instagram Stories on July 25, the “Blank Space” singer referred to the actor as “my godkids’ sperm donor!”

Lively and Reynolds share four children, daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, and son Olin, who was born in February 2023.
