Taylor Swift Has a Fangirl Moment Over Janelle Monáe at the 2025 Grammys

On Sunday, Feb. 2, Taylor Swift, 35, hit the Grammy Awards red carpet in a striking red mini-dress by Vivienne Westwood. However, fans on X quickly noticed that later in the night, she had added a unique accessory—a jacket previously worn by Janelle Monáe, 39.

During her performance of Michael Jackson’s Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough in tribute to the late Quincy Jones, Monáe tossed her tuxedo jacket into the crowd of celebrities. Swift, clearly a fan, caught it and proudly put it on.

“The way she caught the jacket and put it on is sending me 😭 #Grammys,” one X user commented.

Monáe took the stage in a classic tuxedo, complete with silver socks and penny loafers—a clear nod to Jackson’s iconic style. Mid-performance, she removed her jacket, tore open her shirt, and revealed a graphic T-shirt that read I [heart] QJ.

Quincy Jones, the legendary producer, passed away at 91 in his Los Angeles home on Nov. 3, 2024.

Swift, who didn’t take home any of the six Grammys she was nominated for, remained in high spirits. She was seen celebrating with Jay-Z after Cowboy Carter by Beyoncé won Album of the Year over her own The Tortured Poets Department.

She also shared a joyful moment dancing with a young fan during Shakira’s first Grammy performance since 2007.
