Report Reveals Unexpected Taylor Swift Twist in Chiefs-Texans Game
When Taylor Swift attended the Kansas City Chiefs’ divisional round showdown with the Houston Texans, there were plenty of expectations that she would be featured heavily during the game.
After all, whenever she watched the team’s games live throughout the 2024 season, the broadcast cameras often showed her.
Furthermore, it’s worth noting that during the Chiefs-Texans game, the Grammy winner was spotted alongside Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark in their VIP suite.
Considering the star power of the two, it wouldn’t have been a surprise had ESPN chosen to show them several times and for long periods during the contest.
According to new data, however, Swift wasn’t shown a lot—even with the fact that her boyfriend Travis Kelce had a historic game.
As reported by The Mirror, data from JP Analyst showed that the pop star appeared for just 35 seconds during the game. The total runtime of the playoff game lasted three hours and four minutes—over 11,000 seconds.
In comparison, during last season’s wild card game between the Chiefs and Miami Dolphins, the “Cruel Summer” singer was shown for one minute and 16 seconds, according to The New York Times.
That number dropped to only 25 seconds when the Chiefs faced off against the Buffalo Bills on the road in the divisional round.
However, during the conference championship between the Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens, Swift received a substantial 44 seconds of airtime, as noted by Sporting News. In Kansas City’s overtime Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers, the pop star was shown for a total of 54 seconds, per AOL.
While several fans have complained about the screen time Swift has been getting during Chiefs games, there are also many who believe that the award-winning singer’s association with the NFL had a positive impact on the league.
According to a report by Al Jazeera, Swift’s star power brought a wave of new fans to the NFL, particularly her massive fanbase, with experts dubbing it the “Swift bump.”
