Taylor Swift Brings Curtain Down on Record-Breaking $2B Eras Tour: ‘Most Thrilling Chapter of My Life’

Swift closed out her Eras tour in Vancouver on Sunday, Dec. 8 after entertaining more than 10 million fans across the globe

It’s officially the end of an era for Taylor Swift.

The 14-time Grammy winner closed out her career-spanning Eras Tour on Sunday, Dec. 8 at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, bringing to a close a record-shattering run of shows that forever changed the cultural landscape.

While taking the stage, Swift continuously thanked fans for making the Eras Tour so incredible.

“I want to thank every single one of you for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date — my beloved Eras Tour,” she said in a video shared to X (formerly known as Twitter) before launching into the final track “Karma.”

During her final “Lover” speech of the tour, Taylor Swift called it “the most exciting, powerful, electrifying, and challenging experience of my life,” as shared by a fan page on X.

“We’ve gotten to perform for over 10 million people on this tour,” Swift added.

The New York Times reports that the Eras Tour sold $2,077,618,725 in tickets. This is “double the gross ticket sales of any other concert tour in history,” according to Taylor Swift Touring.

The company confirmed 10,168,008 people had attended the concerts, the publication reported. Per the N.Y. Times, Coldplay follow Swift after they reportedly nabbed $1 billion in ticket sales for their 156-date Music of the Spheres World Tour, which kicked off in March 2022 and runs through Sept. 2025.

Sunday’s show also saw fans sing “Happy Birthday” to Swift ahead of her turning 35 on Friday, Dec. 13, per a further X clip.

Following a previous Eras Tour stop in Toronto, Swift posted on Instagram about emotions getting “pretty heightened.” “It’s gotten extremely real for us: Our next city will be the last one of The Eras Tour, and the closing of the most extraordinary chapter of my life so far,” she said.

Swift kicked off her Eras Tour in March 2023. Throughout its run, she performed 152 shows in dozens of cities across five continents.

In April, the “Fortnight” singer released The Tortured Poets Department. The following month, she surprised fans in Paris with a new segment and choreography added to incorporate the Grammy-nominated album.

Among the countless fans and celebrities at her shows was her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, spotted in Australia, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Paris, Dublin, and Singapore.

He even surprised fans and joined her onstage for one of her London shows in June to take part in the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” costume change skit.

Swift was recently named the global top artist of the year for Spotify Wrapped for the second year in a row. Apple Music Replay and Amazon Music also placed her and Tortured Poets at the top of their 2024 lists.

Following her final show, Swift’s next big music event will be the 2025 Grammy Awards on Feb 2.

She earned six nominations. “Fortnight” with Post Malone is up for record and music video of the year. The Tortured Poets Department is nominated for album and pop album of the year. “Fortnight” is also nominated for song of the year with Malone and Jack Antonoff. She and Gracie Abrams are up for best pop duo/group performance for “Us.”
