Taylor Swift’s 35th Birthday Party Was Super Exclusive

While most people were busy shopping for last-minute holiday gifts, I spent the weekend scouring the internet for clues about Taylor Swift’s 35th birthday celebration. Did Travis Kelce make it despite his obligation to the Kansas City Chiefs? Did he deliver on the rumored promise of “extra special” plans? While we still don’t have a full picture of the evening, reports claim Kelce did, in fact, spoil his girlfriend on Friday night with a private celebration, “just them two.” How romantic.

According to an anonymous source, Kelce was tied up at a work engagement for most of Friday — Swift’s actual birthday. The Chiefs played the Cleveland Browns in Ohio on Sunday, but rather than getting stuck at practice as expected, the tight end was reportedly busy making a “mandatory” appearance at Chiefs heiress Gracie Hunt’s Christmas party. On Instagram, the 25-year-old congratulated Kelce on his “well-deserved nomination as the Chiefs’ Walter Payton Man of the Year.”

But not to worry: “Page Six” claims Kelce left “early to go be with Taylor for her birthday.” (Sorry, Gracie.) The footballer reportedly “pulled out all the stops” and got Swift “a ton of gifts,” though the details of those gifts remain a mystery. In the absence of specifics, I have to assume Kelce took his father’s advice and got his partner something “that triggers the emotions.”

While all of this sounds very sweet, I have to admit I’m a little underwhelmed. Swift is one of the most famous women on Earth and keeps similarly famous company … you’re telling me she celebrated a milestone birthday and record-breaking year by cozying up to her NFL player somewhere quiet? That’s cute and all, but maybe Kelce should consider getting a little help from 365 party girl Charli XCX next time around.
