Taylor Swift Beams as Fans Sing ‘Happy Birthday’ During Her Final ‘Eras Tour’ Show
Taylor Swift gave fans plenty of surprises throughout her Eras Tour — and they returned the favor on closing night.
Swift, 34, took the stage for her final Eras Tour concert on Sunday, December 8, in Vancouver. In the weeks leading up to the show, fans on social media plotted a heartfelt moment which they aimed to take place during the Folklore and Evermore sets.
Throughout the tour, Swift often paused at her piano after singing “Champagne Problems” as the crowd gave her lengthy standing ovations. The final concert was no different, and Swift smiled on stage as the audience cheered. Footage shared via X also showed the fan project being executed, with the crowd singing “Happy Birthday” to the pop star. (Swift turns 35 on Friday, December 13.)
Flavor Flav, who proudly identifies as “King Swiftie,” attended Sunday’s performance and shared a clip of himself taking part in the fan-led tribute. “Happy Birthday to @taylorswift13 ,,, we all love ya 🫶🏾,” he wrote via X.
Swift kicked off her tour in March 2023, performing more than 100 shows around the world. In June, she called the Eras tour “the most exhausting, joyful, and rewarding experience of my life,” set to conclude by the end of 2024.
She continued at the time, “It’s taken over everything. I think I once had hobbies, but I don’t know what they were anymore. All I do when I’m not on stage is sit at home and try to think of clever acoustic song mash-ups and think about what you might want to hear.”
Swift shared a similar message on Sunday, taking a moment to reflect during the Red portion of the concert. “I think that’s the lasting legacy of this tour, the fact that you have created such a space of joy and togetherness and love. … I couldn’t be more proud of you, that’s all you,” she told the audience. “I just want to say that you’re why this is so special, you supporting me for as long as you have is why I get to take these lovely walks down memory every single night because you cared about every era of my entire life.”
While performing Midnights — the final era of Swift’s setlist — she thanked fans once again “for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life.”
Swift ended the show with a sweet group hug with her dancers, after a “Karma” lyric change nodding to boyfriend Travis Kelce. Fans later spotted Swift walking off stage, sharing clips on social media of her waving to the crowd.
