Ami Brown
Ami Brown, the matriarch of the Brown family featured on Alaskan Bush People, faced a major health battle in 2017 when she was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.
Doctors initially gave Ami a very low chance of survival, and her diagnosis became a central focus of the series. To receive treatment, the Brown family temporarily left their remote lifestyle and relocated so Ami could undergo intensive medical care.
After months of treatment, including chemotherapy and radiation, Ami was declared cancer-free. She continues to share updates about her family on social media and has since remarried to her now husband, DJ.
Matt Brown
Matt, the oldest of the Brown children, was announced to be deceased on May 30 at 43 years old.
Over the years, the former reality television personality openly discussed his struggles with addiction and entered rehabilitation facilities twice, in 2016 and again in 2018.
Matt documented his adventures and everyday life on his YouTube channel, where he remained connected with fans.
Bear shared the horrific news on social media, saying that his brother appeared to have died from injuries that were “self-inflicted.” His body was recovered from a river after an extensive search. The Okanogan County Coroner later confirmed that Matt died by suicide.
Joshua “Bam Bam” Brown
Joshua “Bam Bam” Brown, the second-oldest of the Brown siblings, has largely stayed out of the spotlight since the show ended.
In 2022, Bam was involved in a serious car accident in Washington state that resulted in the death of a woman in another vehicle. Authorities determined that he was not at fault, and he reportedly suffered only minor injuries.
Since the end of filming, Bam has maintained a relatively private life compared to some of his siblings.
Bear Brown
Bear remains one of the most publicly active members of the Alaskan Bush People family today. He continues to share updates about his life through social media and frequently posts videos about his life in Washington state.
He has also indicated that Alaskan Bush People has not been officially canceled, describing the show as being on hiatus rather than permanently ending, though no new season has been announced.

Rain Brown

In 2025, Rain married Josiah Lorton, and the couple later drew public attention after being arrested in Washington state on charges including burglary and criminal trespass.
