Ford Issues Recall For More Than 125,000 Vehicles
More than 125,000 Ford vehicles that were previously recalled for various issues are being recalled again after the repairs performed to fix the problems were found to have been done incorrectly.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued four separate recalls affecting the vehicles, according to its website.
This recall comes after earlier this month, Ford recalled more than 420,000 vehicles. That recall involved several models, including the Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, Bronco Sport, and Maverick, due to various safety concerns.
In addition, a “do not drive” warning had been issued for certain Bronco Sport and Maverick owners. The recall affected nearly 5,000 vehicles and stemmed from a possible issue during assembly, per Car and Driver.
What Does This Recall Entail?
The vehicles are being recalled for several issues, including potential problems with the automatic windows, gear selection system, and transmission clutch.

- 2018-2020 Ford F-150: 91,198 vehicles
- 2017 Ford Escape: 18,124 vehicles
- 2018 Ford F-150: 10,742 vehicles
- 2015-2018 Ford Focus: 3,763 vehicles
- 2013-2016 Ford Fusion: 1,489 vehicles
Ford F-150’s is recalling 91,198 2018-2020 Ford F-150s under recall number 26V373000, due to issues with Daytime Running Lamps.
The recall involves Ford F-150 models with Daytime Running Lamps that may fail to dim, potentially reducing visibility for other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash. The issue was previously addressed under recall number 20V097, but the repairs were found to have been completed incorrectly, according to the recall notice.
“When the headlight switch is turned from ‘Autolamps’ to ‘Headlamps On,’ the Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) may remain fully bright instead of dimming to parking lamps as intended,” the recall states.
Owners of affected vehicles are expected to receive mailed notification letters about the recall by July 6.
Some Ford Escape’s are being recalled over power-operated window issues.
A recall has been issued under number 26V374000 for 18,124 model year 2017 Ford Escape vehicles due to a malfunction in the automatic windows that could raise the risk of injury.
“The power-operated windows may exert excessive force when encountering an object, before they automatically reverse,” the recall says. This could cause the window to “pinch” drivers or passengers before it retracts.
According to the NHTSA,a recall has been issued under number 26V375000 for 10,742 2018 Ford F-150 vehicles due to a defect that could cause unintended gear shifts, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
“Quickly moving the shift lever from Park to Drive may cause a loss of gear indication on the instrument cluster display and a momentary selection of an unintended gear, such as Reverse or Neutral,” the recall explains.
A recall covering 5,252 vehicles has been issued, including 3,763 2015–2018 Ford Focus models and 1,489 2013–2016 Ford Fusion models, due to a transmission clutch defect that may lead to a fluid leak. According to NHTSA, the leaking fluid could pose a fire risk if it reaches an ignition source such as a hot engine.
What To Do If Your Car Is Included In The Recall?
Owners who believe their vehicles may be included in the recall can verify their status by entering their VIN or their state and license plate number on NHTSA.gov.
Owners of vehicles affected by the recalls will also receive notification letters by mail by July 6, according to NHTSA. They can contact or visit their local Ford dealership to have the issues repaired free of charge.
