Riley Green has dropped the music video for “Think As You Drunk,” a barroom anthem that closes with a vocal sample from the late Toby Keith.
The clip arrived on July 9th and serves as the latest preview of Green’s fourth studio album, That’s Just Me, a 19-track project that also includes the previously released “My Way” and is set to reach all platforms on September 18th. Green announced the album and the single together in late May, giving fans a double dose of news from the Alabama native on a single day.
A Song Built Around Denial — and a Toby Keith Connection
“Think As You Drunk” follows a bar regular who refuses to admit just how much they have had to drink, drawing on the spirit of early 2000s country drinking songs. The track ends with a sample of Keith’s 2005 hit “Good As I Once Was” — an inclusion that came directly from Keith’s own camp. Green told Billboard that after playing the unfinished song for Keith’s manager and family, their reaction made the collaboration feel inevitable.
“They completely thought it was a tip of the cap to Toby, so they wanted to have his vocal on it.”
Inside the Music Video
The video unfolds at Green’s Duck Blind bar in Nashville, Tennessee, where he walks in greeting patrons with the easy familiarity of a regular. The mood shifts quickly once he reaches the bar — a seemingly intoxicated Green attempts to order a drink from his corgi, Carl, who has built his own following on Instagram. The night spirals from there: lost keys, a missing boot, some ambitious dance moves, and eventually the floor. Social media influencer Bryana Ferringer, who has been previously linked to Green romantically, makes a cameo appearance.
With That’s Just Me arriving September 18th, Green is building momentum around one of his most ambitious releases to date.
