Kacey Musgraves has dropped the official music video for “Mexico Honey,” a standout track from her latest album that has quickly become a fan favorite.
The video arrives in support of Middle of Nowhere, Musgraves’ April release and the follow-up to her 2024 record Deeper Well. The album features collaborations with Willie Nelson and Miranda Lambert, and “Mexico Honey” has emerged as one of its most-talked-about songs since the project landed.
A Cinematic, Sun-Soaked Visual
The clip opens with the song’s title rendered in pink cursive before cutting to a close-up of Musgraves delivering the first lines: “I’m in a bad girl good mood, wearing my gold hoops…” From there, the video builds a whirlwind narrative around a mysterious cowboy who joins her for a road trip, his arm draped around her as they share the front seat of a car.
The storytelling shifts through several vivid settings — a neon-green karaoke room, a telenovela-inspired romance, and a lush rainforest where Musgraves walks through water with a yellow boa constrictor across her shoulders. A scene featuring her holding a colorful parrot punctuates the stretch just before the second chorus. Together, the visual elements reinforce the song’s central theme: falling so completely in love with a person and a place that leaving becomes unthinkable.
