Thomas Rhett and Jordan Davis brought a dose of real-world country star power to Netflix’s Ransom Canyon when Season 2 arrived on July 23, 2026.
The two artists appear as themselves in Season 2, Episode 7 of the romantic drama, performing at a fictional music festival woven into the season’s storyline. The festival, called No Place Like Home, is organized by Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly) as a way to rescue the small town of Ransom from financial trouble. Rhett and Davis take the stage during the event and perform “Ain’t a Bad Life,” the collaboration that recently earned Rhett his 25th number-one hit.
How the Cameo Came Together
According to showrunner April Blair, the story itself drew the artists in. “Thomas Rhett and Jordan responded to the story of Quinn throwing this to save the small town,” Blair said. “They were so sweet, humble, down to play, and it just fit the vibe perfectly.” Netflix has also made an extended cut of the festival sequence available as a deleted scene for viewers who want more.
What to Know About Ransom Canyon
The series, described by IMDb as a “romance-fueled family drama and contemporary Western saga,” follows the intersecting lives of three ranching families across the Texas Hill Country. At its center are rancher Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel) and Quinn O’Grady, a concert pianist who returned to her hometown after a career setback. The two share a friendship dating back to high school that evolved into a complicated on-and-off romance during Season 1, while Kirkland simultaneously fought off an energy company attempting to absorb his ranch and influence the town’s key businesses — efforts quietly backed by his own father, Senator Samuel Kirkland.
Season 2 brings back Duhamel and Kelly alongside returning cast members Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Jack Schumacher, and Marianly Tejada. Casey W. Johnson has been elevated to a series regular, while Ben Robson and Heidi Engerman join in recurring roles — Robson as Oliver, a potential new love interest for Quinn, and Engerman as a character named Sydney. Patricia Clarkson guest stars as Quinn’s mother, Claire O’Grady, and former Reba star Steve Howey plays Levi, Staten Kirkland’s half-brother. According to Deadline, Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner did not return as series regulars.
