Turns out not every country fan resonates with Luke Bryan’s list of things he likes to do on his off days.
The singer released “Fish Hunt Golf Drink” in May as a feel-good summer anthem about what a man’s to-do list might be if he didn’t have to pay those pesky bills. In Bryan’s universe, it’s pretty simple: He’d spend time outdoors fishing and hunting, play a round of golf and enjoy a nice cold beverage.

Bryan’s been putting out songs like this one for nearly two decades, but “Fish Hunt Golf Drink” coincided with a rapid escalation of the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and heated conversations about its proper place (or lack thereof) in creative pursuits such as songwriting.
So when the song came out, Bryan pretty quickly started fielding backlash from fans who suspected that AI had a role in creating “Fish Hunt Golf Drink.”
While golfing at the Memorial Pro-Am this week, Bryan said that’s simply not true.

“We’ve had some negativity out there. Some trolls kinda saying that I ‘AI’ed it, which is completely false,” Bryan acknowledged to NBC4.
“That song was designed for one thing,” he continued. “To have fun and tell the world what I love to do and what I strive to do.”

Country hitmakers Chase McGill and Matt Dragstrem co-wrote “Fish Hunt Golf Drink.”
Amid the suspicions that the song was AI-generated, the writers told Rolling Stone that it was entirely human-created, saying, “It’s not rocket science, but it’s true to who Luke is.”

No doubt about that. His catalog boasts a boatload of songs that, while undoubtedly fun warm-weather anthems, aren’t exactly thinkers. On top of that, Bryan specifically enjoys a lyrical list. Just check back to the drink-counting chorus of 2020’s “One Margarita” or his nostalgic “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” from 2017.
If anything, the nit to pick with Bryan’s “Fish Hunt Golf Drink” is its unwillingness to evolve into new artistic territory.
