Jelly Roll paused a live show to pull an 80-year-old woman named Marley from the crowd after spotting her sign announcing it was her very first concert.
The moment unfolded during one of the singer’s recent performances and was captured on camera as part of a vlog Jelly Roll posted to YouTube on July 10th. The clip, titled “My Advice for Losing Weight,” includes the exchange with Marley beginning around the 9:30 mark. Jelly Roll is currently running two concurrent tours — a co-headlining Big Ass Stadium Tour with Post Malone and a solo run billed as the Little Ass Shed Tour.
After catching sight of Marley’s sign in the crowd, Jelly Roll called out, “Where is this sweet lady?” and waved her forward with a “Come up here, grandma!” Once she reached the stage and introduced herself, he told her, “I don’t think you’re 80, you look 60.” Marley confirmed both her age and the fact that she had never attended a concert before. Jelly Roll thanked her directly, saying, “Well, thank you for picking me, Miss Marley,” before adding: “I hope you have the night of your life. And I hope this starts a spree of you going to 50 more concerts for the next 20 years. The way you’re moving, I have a feeling you’re going to be a hundred years old, still coming to Jelly Roll shows. Thank you for making me your first one.”
Touring Through a Difficult Personal Chapter
The lighthearted arena moment comes as Jelly Roll navigates a turbulent stretch off stage. He and his wife, Bunnie Xo, are divorcing after nearly a decade of marriage. At a concert on June 18th, he addressed the split directly, telling the crowd: “She will be my best friend forever. This is the only time I will ever speak about it. Bunnie, I love you, baby. Thank you for those 10 years. They were incredible. Thank you for the next 10 years of friendship, and 20 beyond that.”
In the same July 10th vlog, Jelly Roll acknowledged he had been “overeating” and “stress eating” for several days — a candid admission from an artist who has spoken publicly about a weight loss journey he says runs “way deeper” than the physical and connects to his mental health. He indicated a determination to return to healthier habits heading into his next run of dates, with a show scheduled for July 15th in Kansas City, Missouri.
