Brandi Carlile Brings Soulful “America The Beautiful” Performance To Super Bowl LX

Brandi Carlile continued a long-standing Super Bowl tradition with a performance of “America the Beautiful.”

Ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl LX battle between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, Brandi Carlile delivered a beautiful rendition of “America the Beautiful.” Carlile was part of the star-studded pre-game lineup that included a tailgate concert from Teddy Swims and a national anthem performance from Charlie Puth.

With an expected audience of more than 125 million people, Carlile brought a fearless attitude to her performance, rejecting the offer to submit a pre-recorded track in case of technical difficulties.
“The people deserve to have you live,” Carlile told the AP on Thursday. “They need you to be taking the risk they’re taking every day when they walk out into those streets.”
Brandi promised to be fully present for the song, saying that she’s “been preparing for it more spiritually than technically.” She added that the risk is what makes a performance beautiful.

Brandi Carlile’s approach paid off in a big way, resulting in a flawless, soulful performance.
“America the Beautiful” has been sung before every Super Bowl since 2009. Faith Hill, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, and Post Malone are among those who have previously had the honor.
Brandi Carlile sang the iconic song as written, without embellishment. She accompanied herself with a guitar and was backed by a violin and a cello. The result was a beautiful rendition that earned praise from viewers who took to social media to share their reactions.

“I have to give credit where credit is due. Brandi knocked that rendition of ‘America the Beautiful’ out of the park. One of the best ever arrangements,” one viewer wrote.
Others agreed, calling Carlile’s performance “fantastic” and “outstanding.”

What’s next for Brandi Carlile?

Brandi Carlile’s Super Bowl appearance comes days before she is set to kick off Human Tour, her first-ever headlining tour.
Carlile admitted that her Super Bowl performance will be the scariest thing she does this year, but that it’s great prep for her upcoming tour.

“It’ll be the scariest thing I do this year,” she said. “So once that’s over, the Human Tour is going to be Disneyland all day long.”
