Fans Were Worried About Ronnie Dunn After He Left In The Middle Of Singing “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” At A Recent Show
A representative for Brooks & Dunn released a statement explaining why Ronnie Dunn walked offstage during a recent concert.
The concert in question occurred on Thursday, April 3, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Multiple concertgoers said 71-year-old Ronnie appeared to be “struggling” throughout the show, and wasn’t his usual energetic self.
One TikTok user shared a video of Ronnie taking a break by sitting on some of the stage risers while he played his guitar. The user captioned the clip, “Prayers for Ronnie Dunn! He left the stage in Indy sick tonight.”
Ronnie eventually got back on his feet. During the encore, he stood at the front of the stage to sing “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” but he didn’t make it through the whole song.
Once they reached the chorus, Ronnie took a step back from the microphone and called on the crowd to “sing it if you know it.” He then started walking toward the side of the stage while making a motion over his throat as if to say, “I can’t.”
Ronnie took a few steps toward the crowd, waved, and tapped his chest a few times as if to indicate that he wasn’t feeling well and lost his voice. Then, Ronnie turned around and walked offstage.
Another TikTok user uploaded a video of this moment, captioning it, “Feel better, Ronnie!!! Thanks for giving us all you could!!”
Brooks & Dunn’s Rep Shares The Reason Why Ronnie Dunn Walked Offstage
Brooks & Dunn’s fans were understandably worried about Ronnie after seeing these clips. Several people, including those who were in attendance at the concert, left concerned comments on the various videos of him walking offstage.
Some of those comments included:
âWas there too. Really wanted to hear I Believe but understand he was struggling.â
âWe were there and I was concerned about him, too. I remember him saying at one point that he could hardly breathe, but he had been singing really hard when he made that comment. Praying for him!â
âWe were there too. It looked like he was struggling throughout the entire night.â
A few days after the concert, a rep for Brooks & Dunn explained why Ronnie left the stage. The rep told USA Today, “Ronnie wasn’t feeling well from being sick…”
This falls in line with other fans’ comments, as they mentioned how Ronnie spoke about being sick at prior shows. When Brooks & Dunn sang at RodeoHouston on March 22, he told the crowd he was getting over both strep throat and COVID. “We call it strovid⦠If you hear the wrong notes tonight, we’ll blame it on that. Any other time it’s just me,” he said, as quoted by Houston Press.
It’s possible those ailments continued to affect Ronnie during the April 3 concert that sparked concern. Brooks & Dunn’s rep said the duo’s next show “went on as planned.”
Thankfully, Ronnie now has a few weeks to rest and recover. Brooks & Dunn’s next show is scheduled for April 24 at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. They have several more shows scheduled throughout the spring and summer.
