Bunnie XO is pushing back against critics who say she moved on too fast after her split from Jelly Roll, addressing the viral Fourth of July kiss heard round country music social media on her Dumb Blonde podcast.
The podcast host and media personality was photographed kissing 24-year-old reality television personality Dylan Wolf on the rooftop of Goodnight Nashville over the Fourth of July weekend — the same bar owned by her ex-husband. Jelly Roll had filed for divorce on May 18, with news of the split becoming public in mid-June after Bunnie shared her account in a since-deleted podcast episode. The rooftop moment quickly drew scrutiny online, with some accusing her of moving on too quickly from the marriage.
Bunnie Says the Move Was No Surprise to Those Who Actually Listen
On a recent episode of Dumb Blonde, Bunnie addressed the backlash head-on, arguing that longtime listeners shouldn’t have been caught off guard. “Anybody that really knows me and that really pays attention to the pod is like, she said she was gonna do this,” she said. She did, however, acknowledge the setting gave her pause. “Granted, would I have done it as public as I did it? No. OK. That was a lesson learned.”
Two and a Half Months of Private Grief Before Any Public Joy
Behind the images of a woman apparently living freely, Bunnie described an extended period of severe emotional collapse that played out entirely out of public view. “I have been sitting in purgatory — purgatory — for two and a half months in my studio house,” she said, adding that there were moments she was on the floor, unable to eat or drink, and so physically depleted she considered going to the hospital. “I couldn’t even stand up because I was so f–king devastated.”
She now frames her approach as “healing out loud” — using her platform to connect with other women navigating similar experiences. While she acknowledged the difficulty of this chapter, she was direct about one boundary she intends to hold: “I don’t want the divorce to become my entire personality.”
