Episode 7 of Dutton Ranch ended with a huge revelation and an even bigger cliffhanger. Both involve Beulah Jackson, who is much more terrifying than anyone watching believed.
Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler were passengers for an episode that is arguably the series’ best to date. Tension broke on multiple fronts, and the results were loud, bloody and ugly.
- Episode 7 of Dutton Ranch is called “Den of Sin,” and it debuted on Paramount+ Friday morning (June 19).
- This episode features two critical flashback scenes that reveal everything about Rob Will, Joaquin and (especially) Beulah Jackson.

As always, the Dutton Rules podcast team will go deep on latest episode next Tuesday at 2PM CT.
Dutton Ranch, Episode 7 Recap:
Beulah Jackson’s birthday celebration for the 10 Petal Ranch needs to be perfect, and she spends the early part of this episode ensuring troublemakers are miles away.
She’s also prepared a speech in which she’ll state her intention to turn control of the ranch over to Joaquin in five years.
“Your father would be proud,” she tells her adopted son.
“He will be,” Joaquin says.
Pin this confusing, potentially troubling bit of dialogue for next week. Those who’ve followed these recaps or watched the Dutton Rules podcast know we believe Joaquin’s father is Mariano, who promises to play a major role before Season 1 ends. Standby for his origin story.
Trouble finds the party pretty quickly. Oreana spurns Carter as he arrives, referring to him as her “friend” as she chats with an older man named Harrison Williams. He proceeds to get really drunk and — feeling challenged by Oreana to “quit acting like a f—-ing steer and grow a pair” — rips a steer head off the wall and smashes it.

If that were all that happened, we wouldn’t be here, however.
A few minutes earlier, Oreana leads her grandmother inside, where Rob Will is waiting in the office. Beulah is stunned and seemingly defiant as her son-by-birth threatens to kill Joaquin if she goes through with a plan to turn the ranch to him. Remember, he’s supposed to be in rehab and his dedication to sobriety is questionable.
Throughout all of this, Oreana makes it clear whose side she’s on, and when Beulah publicly declares that Rob Will (full name Robert William Jackson III) will get the ranch, not Joaquin, the young woman hugs her father.
The immediate business ramifications of this decision become clear as Frontier Hospitality CEO Zane Nash confronts Beulah. Their deal to sell beef to his restaurants is now in grave danger, but that’s not the biggest problem.
As Rip moves in to control Carter, Beulah grabs at her neck and collapses. A medical chopper is called to the scene, and the old woman’s mind fades to a very revealing memory.
Dutton Ranch Flashbacks Reveal Everything
Yellowstone relied on flashbacks to fill in important character details, but subsequent Taylor Sheridan shows abandoned the concept. Dutton Ranch Ep. 7 featured two wonderful moments from the Jackson family history reel.
This episode begins in the early 1980s at Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, Texas. Young Beulah and her friends are dropped off by a responsible ranch hand named Mariano (likely Joaquin’s father). She’s swept away by a cowboy named Luke, but then she’s really swept away.
Mariano drives around town searching for her and discovers she’s been raped and left outside the Sak and Save. Her dress is torn, her face is bloody and she’s missing a boot.

The two agree not to tell her father, but a few weeks later she learns she’s pregnant, and that’s the scene modern day Beulah remembers as she’s being treated for her medical event.
Mariano drives B to Luke’s house because she wants to let him know about the baby. There’s no conversation. Young Beulah pulls a gun and shoots Luke in the back and then the head and leaves the house with a smile.
“Found my other boot,” she tells a stunned Mariano.
Dutton Ranch, Episode 6 Review:
Here are the most important things we learned during Episode 7 of Dutton Ranch:
- Beulah is a killer.
- Oreana is Team Rob Will.
- Beulah lied to Beth last week. Rob Will’s father did not drown.
- Joaquin is cut from very different cloth then Rob Will.
- A Dutton Ranch hand named Austin is ready to talk about how dirty this place is.
Yellowstone franchise shows are ultimately judged on the surprises, and this episode brought two big ones. No one could have predicted Beulah killing Rob Will’s father, and it was never conceivable that she might die before the end of the series.
What made this episode great was it held us breathless without Rip and Beth doing much of anything. They’ll surely become more involved next week as new dangers are discussed and divided, but the show’s supporting cast was strong enough to carry a full episode.
Additionally, the end is unpredictable. There are just two episodes remaining, which isn’t much time for every plot line to close. At best, the bubbling tension between the two ranches will move to a simmer at the finale.
