Country icons George Strait and Miranda Lambert were officially inducted into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026 during a celebration weekend in Austin, Texas.
The Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame announced the new inductees in August, naming Strait, Lambert, Don Cook, and the late Keith Gattis as this year’s honorees. The organization recognizes Texas songwriters who have shaped and preserved the state’s distinct musical and cultural identity.

Star-Studded Celebration in Austin
From February 20 to 21, the Texas Heritage Songwriters Association hosted a 20th anniversary celebration honoring the new class. The multi-day event brought together leading names in country music for performances and tributes.
Artists including Parker McCollum, Brooks & Dunn, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, and Ashley Monroe took part in the weekend’s performances, celebrating the songwriting legacies of the inductees.
On Saturday, February 21, Strait, Lambert, Cook, and Gattis were formally inducted during an evening ceremony filled with live performances and tributes. The event highlighted their lasting contributions to Texas music and the broader country genre.
Joining a Prestigious Group of Texas Songwriters
With their induction, Strait and Lambert join a distinguished roster of past honorees that includes Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Clint Black, Waylon Jennings, and Buck Owens.

Miranda Lambert Shares Her Reaction
Following the ceremony, Lambert reflected on the honor in a heartfelt message shared online. She described the induction as one of the greatest honors of her career and expressed gratitude for being recognized alongside Strait, Cook, and Gattis.
Lambert also thanked the artists who performed in tribute to her work and acknowledged longtime record producer Frank Liddell for delivering what she called a deeply meaningful speech during the event.
She closed by emphasizing her connection to her home state, noting that Texas and its music have always been central to her identity and career.
