Country music fans were caught off guard when news broke on June 15 that Jelly Roll (Jason DeFord) had filed for divorce from his wife, Bunnie Xo (Alisa DeFord), after nearly 10 years of marriage. According to TMZ, the divorce documents list “irreconcilable differences” as the cause, with the couple’s official separation date recorded as May 9 — roughly a week before the filing. The split surprised many followers who had watched the pair publicly celebrate each other regularly, including a joint appearance earlier in May for Jelly Roll’s daughter Bailee Ann’s prom.
Bunnie Xo wasted little time addressing the situation, dedicating a 54-minute episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast to the topic. In it, she described Jelly Roll as her “best friend forever” and indicated the two parted on good terms. While the couple has no children together, Bunnie helped raise Jelly’s now 18-year-old daughter Bailee. Jelly also has a son named Noah from a previous relationship. Bunnie had previously shared in her 2026 memoir, Stripped Down, that the two had found a surrogate and hoped to welcome twins.
On June 19, Jelly Roll released his own video on YouTube titled “The Divorce Vlog,” offering fans a look at his recent life, including his time at CMA Fest. Near the end of the vlog, he called Bunnie on camera and directed viewers to her podcast for the full story on their split.
