Kellie Pickler’s Former In-Laws Issue Another Subpoena As Their Ongoing Court Battle Over Her Late Husbands Estate Continues
Legal issues between Kellie Pickler and her late husband’s parents began last year when court documents revealed that Pickler filed a petition against them over items taken from his estate.
Kyle Jacobs died by suicide in February 2023 at the age of 49. Following his death, Pickler declined to serve as the administrator of his estate, leaving his parents, Reed and Sharon Jacobs, as co-administrators.
The lawsuit filed against them last year alleged that the Jacobses entered the home and took personal property items after their son’s passing without Pickler’s consent.
Reed and Sharon have demanded that several items be turned over to them, claiming they belong to Kyle’s estate. These items reportedly include his gun collection, swords, a Rolex watch, school awards, and other belongings.
Later on, the Jacobses filed their own case against the singer. In this, they claimed to have permission to take the items and were invited to do so “at the express invitation” of Pickler and her legal team. They then asked the court to throw out Pickler’s request.
Now, a new subpoena from Kyle’s parents has been issued as they seek more information about his cremation.
According to In Touch, Sharon and Reed Jacobs sent the subpoena to Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Nashville, TN.
They requested that the funeral home provide documents for review on March 26.
These include records related to Kyles’ funeral and cremation, along with paperwork detailing conversations with Pickler that “reflect the personal effects of [Kyle]” when delivered to the facility and the “disposition of the personal effects or property of [Kyle].”
Additionally, they are requesting documents that reveal what items, if any, were cremated along with him and any documents “pertaining to the services provided on behalf of Kyle.”
The Jacobs have claimed that the funeral home has refused to comply with the subpoena. However, the facility has not officially filed any objection in response.
A court hearing is expected to take place sometime this month, but an exact date has not been shared.
Throughout the entire process, Pickler has stayed out of the public eye. She did make her return to the stage, though, for the first time since her husband’s passing.
On April 22, 2024, she participated in a Patsy Cline tribute concert held at the Ryman Auditorium. During her performance, she sang “The Women I am,” a song she co-wrote with Kyle.
