Koe Wetzel and Ella Langley have reunited on a new duet called “Jaded,” appearing on an expanded edition of Wetzel’s 2026 album The Night Champion.
The track arrives as the latest collaboration between Wetzel and Langley, a real-life couple whose creative tension appears to translate well to record. Written by Wetzel, Langley, Ernest, and Jordan Schmidt, “Jaded” found its shape when Ernest and Langley had already sketched out the foundation before Wetzel and Schmidt stepped in to help complete it. According to Wetzel in comments to his record label, the song came together quickly — though he ultimately held it back from the original release of The Night Champion.
A Softer Edge Than Their Last Collaboration
Listeners familiar with the pair’s previous duet, “That’s Why We Fight,” recorded for Langley’s 2023 EP Excuse the Mess, will notice a different tone here. “Jaded” carries a rock edge but pulls back from the raw aggression of that earlier track, landing instead in radio-friendly territory. Wetzel handles lead vocals throughout, delivering a song that probes the emotional history of a guarded partner — exploring who hurt her, who built up her walls, and why she carries those scars.
The chorus leans into that central question: “How’d you get so jaded / Who made you like this / Who gave you these problems even I can’t seem to fix.” Langley’s presence on the track is more understated than on some of her own headline duets, which include “You Look Like You Love Me” and “Don’t Mind If I Do,” both recorded with Riley Green.
Context Within Both Artists’ Careers
For Wetzel, “Jaded” represents some of his most accessible work to date. His biggest radio success prior to this was “High Road,” a duet with Jessie Murph. Langley, meanwhile, has built a reputation as one of country music’s most active collaborators, consistently working multiple songs up the charts simultaneously. Because her role on “Jaded” is secondary to Wetzel’s lead, the track is unlikely to compete directly with her own singles for chart positioning.
With “Jaded” now available as part of the expanded The Night Champion, attention will turn to how the song performs at radio and whether it extends Wetzel’s commercial momentum heading deeper into 2026.
