Taylor Sheridan’s spy thriller Lioness is officially returning for a third season on Paramount+, with a premiere date set for Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026.
Created by the Yellowstone co-creator, Lioness follows CIA operative Joe McNamara and her team as they navigate the intersection of their personal and professional lives while serving as the agency’s frontline force in the war on terror. The show stars Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly, and Morgan Freeman. Paramount+ confirmed the renewal in October 2025, and the streamer released an official trailer for the new season on July 16.
What Season 3 Holds for Joe and Her Team
According to a Paramount+ press release, the upcoming season raises the stakes considerably for Saldana’s character. “Hidden networks, foreign operatives, and personal betrayals collide” as Joe walks the line between duty and home while unseen forces close in around her. Guided by Kaitlyn, played by Kidman, and Westfield, played by Kelly, Joe faces enemies operating in the shadows — a conflict that now bleeds into every corner of her life. The season promises patterns appearing where they shouldn’t, names disappearing, and paths shifting beneath her feet.
Returning Cast and Where to Watch
The full QRF — Quick Response Force — team and war room are confirmed to return alongside Joe and Kaitlyn, with preview images also hinting at several new characters entering the fold. Season 3 will air exclusively on Paramount+, and viewers who need to catch up can stream both of the first two seasons there now.
With the Aug. 2 premiere still ahead, the newly released trailer offers the clearest look yet at what Sheridan has in store for one of Paramount+’s flagship series.
