Luke Bryan couldn’t resist taking a hilarious jab at Blake Shelton, even on his birthday.
On Thursday, June 18, Luke was in Wichita, Kansas, for a stop on his Word on the Street tour. Thousands of fans showed up to watch him perform; however, the night was also special for another reason: it was Blake Shelton’s 50th birthday!
Even though Luke couldn’t celebrate with him in person, he still made sure that his longtime buddy felt the love miles away.
He ended up pausing the show for a moment to get the crowd involved in a special group sing-along of “Happy Birthday” for Blake.
Sweet right? Well, yes, it definitely started out that way.
Luke shared the video of the moment on his Instagram, but in true Luke fashion, he couldn’t help but throw a little joke at Blake’s expense.
The text written over the clip read, “Happy birthday Blake. 50th. Old ass”
Now, keep in mind, Luke himself is 49 and will be turning 50 in less than a month. But when it comes to their longtime public rivalry, that doesn’t matter much.
Blake also wasn’t about to let Luke’s joke go unanswered. He fired back with a response of his own. Blake left a comment on the video that read:
“Is this one of those AI things?!! No way all those people showed up to your show.. I love you brother”
Luke Bryan And Blake Shelton Have Had A Friendly Rivalry For Years
If you’ve been a fan for a while, then you know that the two friends have been giving each other a hard time for years. But it’s always in good fun.
In fact, fans really do love Blake and Luke’s dynamic. Many of them left comments on the video about how hilarious it is to see them still trying to one-up each other.
“I love the banter between these guys haha. And the fact their Nashville bars are opposite side of the street haha,” said a fan
“yall crack me up when yall go back and forth with each other,” wrote another.
Back in February, Blake paused one of his shows to call out a fan in the crowd who was wearing a T-shirt with Luke’s face on it. Of course, he had a few choice words for the concertgoer.
“You come to my show wearing Luke Bryan sh**! What’s the matter with you? That guy’s an idiot!,” Blake said.
He even offered the fan free merch just so he wouldn’t have to see Luke’s face all night.
It’ll be interesting to see how Blake claps back when Luke’s birthday comes along!
