Ray Stevens Is Recovering From Heart Surgery
Ray Stevens’ team took to social media on Tuesday (July 8) to announce that the legendary singer is recovering from a “minimally invasive heart surgery” on Monday (July 7).
The social media post revealed that Stevens “complained of chest pain and was admitted to a Nashville hospital. After a heart catheterization procedure, it was determined he’d suffered a mild heart attack.”
His upcoming shows at his Nashville venue CabaRay have been cancelled through the rest of the month as he recovers.

Ray Stevens is known for blending humor with music, creating a unique niche in the entertainment industry. He first gained national attention in the early 1960s with novelty hits like “Ahab the Arab” and “Gitarzan.”
Not only could Stevens make comedy music, but he also showcased his incredible versatility in country, pop, and gospel music.
In 1970, Stevens earned his first Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance with “Everything Is Beautiful,” a heartfelt ballad that featured his daughter in the choir that sang with him.
His career continued to thrive in the 1970s and 1980s with hits like “The Streak,” a satirical song inspired by the streaking craze, which became a No. 1 hit in 1974. Throughout this period, Stevens became a fixture on television, appearing on variety shows and eventually hosting his own programs, including The Ray Stevens Show.
He even created his own venue, CabaRay, where he often performs. He announced his retirement in 2024, but in April 2025, he revealed he wasn’t ready for retirement and would be performing every Saturday night.

Stevens was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2019, solidifying his legacy in country music history forever.
