Paramount+ has officially renewed Dutton Ranch for a second season, confirming the future of its record-breaking Yellowstone spinoff before the first season has even finished its run.
The network announced the pickup on Wednesday, June 24, with Season 1 still on track to conclude on July 3. The series centers on Beth and Rip — played by Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser — who abandon their fire-destroyed Montana ranch to build a new life in south Texas, where they quickly clash with the powerful Beulah Jackson, portrayed by Annette Bening. The show has been a major performer for the streamer, drawing 12.9 million viewers in its first seven days — a record for the platform.
What to Expect From Season 2
No premiere date for Season 2 has been announced, and as of Tuesday night, cast members Natalie Alyn Lind, who plays Oreana, and Finn Little, who plays Carter, confirmed they were not actively filming. Lind was in Los Angeles and Little was back home in Brisbane, Australia. Given the Yellowstone franchise’s track record of turning seasons around in under a year, a spring 2027 debut appears plausible.
One significant obstacle ahead of production is the search for a new showrunner. Chad Feehan, who also wrote much of the first season, was removed from the project before Season 1 premiered, leaving that role vacant as the creative team prepares to move forward.
Cast and Cliffhangers
No official cast announcements have been made for Season 2, though Lind indicated her character, Oreana, would continue to develop. Beth, Rip, and Carter are also expected to remain central to the show. Season 1 has at times leaned heavily into the world of the Jackson family and their 10 Petal Ranch, suggesting the balance between storylines could shift heading into a second run.
With the Season 1 finale still weeks away, a major cliffhanger or significant character death appears likely before the curtain falls — which will only sharpen anticipation for wherever the newly confirmed Season 2 takes the story next.
