A long-shelved Charlie Daniels Band recording has found new life — and a new visual dimension — as an AI-generated music video for the previously unreleased patriotic track “My Home.”
The song, which the Charlie Daniels Band originally cut in 2014 for a Macy’s Fourth of July television special, never received a commercial release at the time. It sat untouched in the band’s archives for years while Daniels and his bandmates pursued new recordings and touring. Following Daniels’ death in 2020, the track faded further into obscurity — until his son, Charlie Daniels Jr., rediscovered it in 2025 and set about getting it released. The song finally hit all major digital music services on June 17, with Taste of Country holding the exclusive premiere.
A Video Built From Scratch
Alongside the release, Charlie Daniels Jr. produced a music video using an AI-powered video platform — a process he described as entirely self-taught. What began as a straightforward lyric video evolved into something far more ambitious once he discovered the platform’s animation capabilities. He spent several days working through the system’s prompts and fine-tuning individual scenes before arriving at a finished product that placed his father at the center of a patriotic Fourth of July celebration. “When I saw what it could do, my mind was blown,” Daniels Jr. said in a press release.
A Complicated Road to Release
Getting “My Home” to audiences required more than just locating a file in a hard drive. According to a Soap Box column written by Daniels Jr., the process involved extensive research, multiple conversations with songwriter Bill Schermerhorn, and a lengthy search for the original master recording. Co-writer Doug Katsaros also played a key role in making the release possible. The finished track is an up-tempo blend of country and rock, anchored by the kind of blazing fiddle work that defined Daniels’ reputation as a Country Music Hall of Famer.
The release is part of a broader archival campaign tied to what Daniels’ family calls “the tenth decade of Charlie Daniels” — a reference to the fact that he would have turned 90 in October 2026. Additional milestones on the horizon include a Legend of Charlie Daniels show at Fort Campbell, Ky., on July 4, featuring a CDB hologram alongside performances from the Frontmen, Aaron Tippin, and Eric Lee Beddingfield, as well as a Best of the Charlie Daniels Band Volunteer Jam compilation album due in August.
