Rascal Flatts vocalist Gary LeVox helped raise $1.25 million for military and first responder scholarship nonprofit Folds of Honor during a recent fundraising event in Minnesota.
LeVox disclosed the achievement almost in passing during an appearance on Taste of Country Nights, where he was primarily discussing an upcoming celebrity golf tournament in Nashville tied to the same organization. The offhand remark revealed the scope of his ongoing commitment to Folds of Honor, which provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled military service members and first responders. Founded in 2007, the nonprofit has awarded tens of thousands of scholarships to help families pursue college and other educational opportunities.
LeVox on the Impact of the Scholarship Work
“I actually just got back from Minnesota doing a Folds of Honor event, because you know Folds of Honor does such amazing things and we just raised $1.25 million dollars the other day for these recipients,” LeVox said. “These kids get to go to school, they get to go to college and get a scholarship.” He acknowledged the difficult circumstances that make those scholarships possible, adding, “It sucks that you have to lose, you know, one of your parents to get that, but Folds of Honor does amazing and I just love their work, so it’s great to be partners with them.”
BIRDI Celebrity Golf Invitational Set for August
Beyond the Minnesota fundraiser, LeVox is organizing the BIRDI Celebrity Golf Invitational, a tournament presented by Hard Rock and tied to his eyewear brand BIRDI. The event is scheduled for August 11 at Old Hickory Country Club in Old Hickory, Tennessee, and will bring together celebrities, country artists, and professional golfers to raise additional money and awareness for Folds of Honor. Country fans with an interest in both the sport and the cause will have that date to look forward to as LeVox continues to expand his partnership with the organization.
