Clint Black is recovering in the hospital after an infected tonsils diagnosis forced him to cancel his July 3 performance at Pearl River Resort Casino.
A statement posted to Black’s social media accounts on Wednesday, July 1, confirmed that the country veteran was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and required emergency antibiotic treatment. The post assured fans he is on the mend and expected to be discharged later this week, with a full recovery anticipated. Ticket holders for the Pearl River Resort Casino show will receive refunds at their point of purchase.
Tour and TV Commitments Remain Intact
Despite the hospitalization, Black’s broader schedule appears unaffected. His Back on the Blacktop Tour resumes July 9 in Minden, Nevada, and runs through November 14 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He is also still listed as a participant in Disney Celebrates America: Nashville’s Star-Spangled Bash, a Fourth of July special airing live nationally on ABC.
A Busy Year Beyond the Road
The canceled date comes amid one of Black’s more active years in recent memory. He published a memoir, Clint Black: Killin’ Time, My Life & Music, recounting stories from both his public career and behind-the-scenes moments, and recorded the audiobook himself. Separately, the Country Music Hall of Fame opened Clint Black: The Hard Way on Purpose, an exhibit tracing his early life and his pre-fame work as an ironworker. That exhibit is scheduled to remain open through August 1, 2027.
With a recovery expected before the week is out, fans won’t have long to wait before Black is back on the road.
