Justin Moore is back on the road after completing 30 days in rehab and publicly opening up about his sobriety for the first time.
The Arkansas-based country artist stepped away from touring on June 8, withdrawing from his scheduled appearances on Riley Green’s Cowboy As It Gets Tour — a run of dates that continues through August — to address what he has since confirmed was a serious struggle with alcohol. On July 7, Moore signaled his return with a video of himself walking onstage, captioned “See y’all on the road soon!” alongside a list of upcoming dates.
Moore Speaks Candidly About His Drinking and the Decision to Seek Help
In a video captured by Whiskey Riff, Moore confirmed he had spent 30 days in rehab and is now sober. He did not shy away from accountability. “My drinking got out of control,” he said. “I let down my band and my crew and, most importantly, God, my family.” He also spoke to listeners of Morning Mayhem, the radio show he co-hosts on Arkansas’ 103.7 The Buzz, describing how the pressures of the COVID pandemic set him on a destructive path. “It screwed me up, man, the stress and pressure and anxiety from worrying about paying my crew and band,” he explained. “It’s not an excuse, I’m just telling you what the reasons for me are.”
Moore said he spent time trying to break the cycle on his own before recognizing he needed outside help. “I just got in a vicious cycle that I could not break out of, and thought I could do it on my own, tried that for a while, and realized, ‘You know what? That’s not working very good,'” he said. He described going home from the road one night and telling his wife Kate that he had to make a change. “This is not who I want to be, it’s not who I am as a person, and I’m just not happy with myself,” he told her. Moore and Kate share four children, and he credited his family — along with his faith — as his primary motivation for getting well. “God has given me so much between my wife and our four awesome kids and my family, a career like this,” he said, adding that he intends to use his platform more fully going forward.
What’s Ahead for the “Til My Last Day” Singer
Moore’s website lists a slate of upcoming festival appearances, including the National Cherry Festival, Country Jam USA 2026, and the Born & Raised Music Festival, among others. With his health stabilized and his family and supporters behind him, fans can expect to see the singer back in full form on the summer circuit.
