Rick Came From A Racing Family
Rick Treadway grew up around racing, with his father being Fred Treadway, the winner of the 1997 Indy 500.
Rick began racing in the Formula 2000 junior formula racing circuit and in multiple short-track open-wheel series, including the USAC Silver Crown and National Midget Series.
He started the Indy 500 in 2001, which was the “highlight” of his career. He raced 11 times in the 2001 and 2002 seasons the teams Treadway-Hubbard Racing and Treadway Racing, which were owned by his father.

He was remembered on social media by two-time Indy 500 winner and teammate Arie Luyendyk.
“Sad news hearing Rick Treadway passed away last Saturday,” he wrote. “Our condolences go out to my former @IndyCar team owner Fred Treadway, Janice and Brian Treadway. Rick was a fun, crazy, humble, wild and brave personality. RIP Ricky. We are thinking of you Treadway family.”
Fellow driver Conor Daly also mourned Rick on X. See his post below.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
